Easy Ways to Prioritize Your Health.
At South Tabor Family Physicians, we all understand that the last days of summer and life in general, can get busy. Sometimes it feels like there aren’t enough hours in the day to take care of everything, let alone yourself. But here’s the thing – taking care of your health doesn’t have to be a huge, time-consuming task. In fact, small, simple changes can make a big difference over time. Today, we’re sharing some easy ideas to sneak in some healthy habits throughout your day.
Simple ways to boost your wellbeing:
- Start your day with water: Instead of reaching for coffee first thing, try drinking a big glass of water. It helps wake up your body and gets you hydrated for the day ahead.
- Take the stairs: Take the stairs whenever you can. It’s a great way to get your heart pumping and add some extra steps to your day.
- Park farther away: When you’re running errands, park a little farther from the entrance and walk the rest of the way. Those extra steps add up!
- Stretch during breaks: If you have a desk job, take short breaks throughout the day to stretch your muscles. It helps improve circulation and can prevent aches and pains.
- Swap sugary drinks for water or unsweetened tea: Cutting back on sugary drinks is a simple way to reduce your calorie intake and improve your overall health.
- Add veggies to your meals: Try adding a handful of spinach to your morning eggs, or snack on some carrots and hummus instead of chips. Here are some great snack ideas if you are trying to lose weight too.
- Get enough sleep: Aim for 7-8 hours of sleep each night. It’s essential for your physical and mental health.
- Take a walk after dinner: A leisurely walk after dinner can help with digestion and is a great way to unwind and de-stress.
Remember, every little bit counts. Don’t feel like you have to do everything at once. Start with one or two of these tips and gradually add more as you can. And most importantly, be kind to yourself.
